No items found.

Today we discuss where podcasting will fit into your life, how much time to set aside for podcasting, how to prioritize podcasting in you tasks, what your expectations of the podcast are, and how to set measurable key objectives and results for you podcast.

Steps for Skill Mastery:

  1. Evaluate the Priorities in your life
  2. Time Block your ideal week with time for podcasting
  3. Outline your expectations, objectives for the podcast, and the key results to measure

Step 1: Prioritize Your Podcast

Understanding where podcasting fits into:

  • Your current commitments
  • Your expectations,
  • and your goals

is critical for your success with podcast

Activity: Prioritization

  1. Outline all the current commitments you have in your life and put them in order of priority (1 being most important).
  2. When I look at my current commitments above, I would give my podcast a priority ranking score of _____________.

Now that you know what priority level your podcast is to you, lets fit it into your schedule.

Step 2: Time Blocking

Without actually setting some time aside for your podcast and committing to it on your calendar, the likelihood of it happening is small. Now that we know your previous commitments and how important your podcast is to you we can set aside an appropriate amount of time each week to work on it.

Activity: Time Blocking

Time block your week with your previous commitments and time for your podcast. If you already have a time blocking or calendar system, please use that. If not, you may copy & use the google sheet template to time block

The most important tip for getting things done: FOLLOW THE SCHEDULE! It will be a transition that takes some getting used to. You are taking back your life and taking control of your time.

Step 3: Setting Expectations & OKR's

Now we need to define what your expectations of the podcast are. What are you hoping to get out of this? And what do you expect of yourself to do in this podcast? How is this fitting into your life and how are you able to leverage this in your business. How are you able to express yourself?

Activity: Journal & Answer The Following Question

My expectations for the podcast could be described as...

With those expectations in mind. Now let's move on to defining the goals that you have for your podcast, using the framework of OKRs, which are objectives and key results. Objectives should be qualitative, aspirational, and inspiring. Key results should be quantitative, explicit, and measurable.

If you need more help understanding OKR's I recommend:

Now start reflecting on what your objectives for your podcast are. What would you like your podcast to do for you? Build an audience? Create a new stream of income? Connect with you with ideal client? Share your story?

Activity: Set OKRs

Write down 3 main objectives you would like your podcast to serve and three results you could measure to make sure you are hitting that objective.  I have included an example below.

These OKR's will help guide your podcast as we continue to develop it.
