Today we discuss how to prepare your podcast episode for uploading to the internet by exporting it from your audio editing software and tagging it with information about the episode and podcast.
Steps for Skill Mastery:
A podcasting hosting service is a requirement to have your podcast accessible to the largest market of listeners. They provide the platform so that you can upload your audio file and input the key characteristics of your show and each individual episode. This includes the titles of each episode, the artwork, the hostname, keywords for the episode, and the actual audio file.
The important thing the hosting company does though is provide an RSS feed for your podcast. RSS stands for “really simple syndication” and it is the link between your host and platforms such as Apple Podcast. Without an RSS feed your podcast would not be able to be accessed by the main listening channels – Apple Podcast, Spotify, etc.

Choose a podcast host, setup your account, and begin creating your first show.
Now let’s configure your profile inside you podcast media host. I have personally used Simplecast & Transistor for hosting my podcast, Evolve. The below process will be shown in Simplecast & Transistor but it will be similar to most other podcast hosts.
After you have signed up for whichever host you choose, and have your profile configured, you will need to find where you can upload an episode.

Upload the 3-5 episodes you have created, your episode 0, and your podcast trailer.
Note: You will need to upload and publish at least one episode to submit to podcast directories. I recommend publishing your trailer or episode 0 as mentioned in the launch strategy.
