Summary

What is Long Term Career Management?

Long term career management means periodically assessing that you're moving towards your goals and having the impact that you want to make.

  • You want to periodically check that you're still in line with your vision or maybe see if you want to change your goals and go in a new direction.
  • The more that you're able to look at your career plan and see what the next steps are, the better prepared you can be for taking those next steps.

Why Bother Continual Career Management & Planning?

Without proper care and attention to your career you will be caught off guard by life events.

  • You can be cruising along in your job right now, feeling like life is totally okay, and then the economy crashes and you lose your job.
  • If you haven't been doing the habits and keeping track of your career, you could be in a very dire situation.

You're not likely to stay in one job for a long time.

  • Job hunting is no longer an optional exercise. It's a survival skill, and this means it's one of the things in our life that we must get really skilled at and become masters of.
