Day 14: Online Profiles

No items found.

Today you will continue to develop your personal brand by updating your digital resumes on LinkedIn and other online profiles specific to your industry in way that will make you stand out to potential employers.

Summary

What are Promotional Materials?

Your promotional materials are going to be your resume, your portfolio or professional website, your profile on online professional networks, and the different references or testimonials that you get about your work.

  • These will help you market yourself well, to stand out and get noticed.

We will start with your online profiles, including LinkedIn, moving to your portfolio or personal website, and then finishing with your resume.

  • When employers look to hire new employees they first recruit through referrals and connections, including online connections on professional networks.
  • When you apply for a job, employers will look you up on the internet, so online profiles serve as digital resumes.

Why Start with Linkedin?

LinkedIn is a professional social media platform that serves as your digital resume.

  • The numbers vary depending on which study you read, but it's safe to say that virtually all recruiters will look at your social media presence, and more than 60% of employers have rejected some applicants on the basis of what they found.
  • Employers are constantly searching LinkedIn for potential candidates.
